I turn to Ayurveda as a guiding principle in my 'Habit Design' practice.
This millenary indian medical system literally means "The Study of Life' (from sanskrit 'ayur': lfe' / 'veda': study, science). Its Elemental Theory, uses the 5 elements (earth, water, fire, wind, ether) and combines them into doshas, mind-body types that express particular patterns of behavior.
Ayurveda helps us understand our health as a system of interconnected relationships between mind-body types, ingredients, seasons and habits. I hope this diagram can help you visualize these relationships. Use it as a map to understand yourself better. Be intentional about how you invest your energy throughout your day. Open your senses to recognize the five elements in your mind and body, your personality, your emotions and your work.
