1. Unless it’s a Q&A interview every article should read like a university essay, except more fun. That mean’s you need what professors call a thesis and we call a hook: a position, a POV or a statement with some attitude that sits right upfront in the first paragraph that draws the readers into the piece and serves as a guide for you to maintain your argument or ideas focus from beginning to end. At the end, find a way to tie back to that first paragraph.
2. Remember that focus. Your article should have one key point to drive home. Don’t get distracted. Don’t try to write everything. Don’t try to cram it full of extra information. Begin with your POV, illustrate it, end it.”
